Crafted items are created in the Horadric Cube by combining a magical item with various ingredients such as runes or gems. Crafted items are basically rares, with some preset mods that always appear, supplemented by random other properties. These preset mods are often impossible to find on magical or rare items, making crafted items special. Numerous recipes exist, enabling players to make all sorts of interesting, specialized weapons and armors.
