Diablo II takes place after the end of the previous game, Diablo, in the lands of Sanctuary where Diablo, the Lord of Terror, was defeated by an unnamed warrior. The hero who slew Diablo drove the demon's soulstone into his forehead in an attempt to contain him, but this is what Diablo wanted and just made him stronger, and the adventurer is in turn corrupted. The player is an adventurer who appears in the wake of the destruction caused by Diablo and attempts to find out the cause of the destruction, starting with the corrupted warrior (from the first game). As the player continues through each of the four acts, he faces off against the Prime Evils, superpowers of Hell, and the two lesser evils who once overthrew the three prime evils, and learns of the truth behind the corruption. Diablo released Mephisto (Lord of Hatred) and Baal (Lord of Destruction) from their soulstones, as they were taught long ago how to corrupt them by the fallen angel Izual. In the end, the player eventually reaches and slays Mephisto and Diablo. When a target is Immune to an attack type, it simply means that damage of that type cannot harm it. The Paladin Conviction Aura and the Necro Lower Resits curse, is some of the ways to deal with this. Having more than one damage type is also an option, and it is for this reason that some players favour to have a dual elemental sorc, instead of a pure.

Über Andariel, also known as Lilith, drops this item. She is reached by getting 3 keys of terror. The keys of terror can be dropped by the Countess (who is at the 5 level of the tower found in the Black Marsh in act I).

Knockback

The ability to knock back a target preventing it from attacking you. Uniques and bosses cant be knockbacked. Some skills are not great along with knockback, zeal comes to mind, as the first hit, would prevent the 4 follow up hits. Other things are great along with knockback, here the ability to stun comes to mind, this will effectively put enemies out for a short duration of time, each time you hit them.

Cold is one of the elemental attacks found in Diablo II. Its main strength is freezing enemies and slowing them down, making them easier to dodge, or making them attack slower, and there fore enables you to take less damage.

Nightmare

Nightmare is the second of three difficulties found in diablo II. It is reached by killing Diablo on normal, or killing Ball on normal if you are playing the expansion.

You will receive a -50 to all resistances upon entering Nightmare, and when the monster are also increased in level, the difficulty of the game increases considerably. As monsters are higher levels, they also drop (have a chance to drop) better items, for more upon this see the respective item sections.
