Suggestion: Keep this page due to high page rank. Fill it out if possible, add links to individual items, and create them. Perhaps add info about potions here, for instance. I take issue with the line "There are only two types of scrolls in Diablo II", since there's also the Scroll of Inifuss and the Scroll of Resistance. I get that they aren't the same thing, but they are literally called Scroll's, seems odd to leave them out. Maybe add a little (sidenote linking them to their respective pages/quests).

The items on this page are not life or death, generally speaking, but are conveniences you want and need. Keys are dropped by monsters or purchased for a very low price in town. They stack 12 high, and are readily available. Each time you open a locked chest, one of your keys is used, and destroyed. There are no locked doors, and never anything in a locked chest you have to have to advance in the game. They are purely a bonus item, but as locked chests are common, you should be sure to always carry some of these (unless you play an Assassin, who can pick locks).

There are only two types of reusable scrolls in Diablo II; Town Portal and Identify, and scrolls can be equipped in the belt or stored in inventory. To cast one you either right click on it, hit the appropriate number of the belt slot, or select the skill icon and right click on it. (The [[Scroll of Inifuss]], [[Scroll of Resistance]], and [[Horadric Scroll]] exist in the game, but only as specific use quest items.)

Books are simply scroll repositories that stack up multiple scrolls for convenience of use. Books can be bought empty, or found in the dungeons with from 1-5 charges. Multiple books will auto-stack to one book with the charges added together. Scrolls picked up while a book is in the inventory will auto-stack into it, adding to the number of charges. Scrolls can not be removed from books. The Identify book is reddish brown, and contains a triangle at the top of the outer spine, and a solid band at the bottom. The Town Portal book has a gold band from the front cover extending around the spine, and is blue.

It seems SOMETIMES Diablo's pink lightning won't strike a melee fighter, the best way to avoid it is keep moving around, attacking from different angles until it stops working.

Also, I just fought a Brown Diablo, but didn't see any mention of it on here. I was soloing, players 8 in Nightmare (an idiotic attempt to get better items to fight in Hell, but he only dropped junk.)

EDIT: It's possible the brown Diablo I fought is mentioned in this line. 'Various forms of Diablo exist in D2X.' (I was playing D2X), but the very next line seems to imply they are talking about Uber/Pandemonium Diablo: In addition to the regular version of Diablo, you may also encounter Uber Diablo or Pandemonium Diablo in the Special Quests added in in v1.10 and v1.11.

It's hard to tell what the original author implied when writing this, (If the first line was referring to the next line, or to the fact that Diablo comes in different shades sometimes), so I'd like to suggest the two lines be seperated, and the first elaborated on more. Thanks!

::So just to clarify, when it does say different versions, does it refer to the brownish Diablo I fought, or the 2 special Diablo's? I've been playing a lot lately so if he shows up again I'll risk taking a picture of him to upload in his brown-state (Uber/Pan Diablo are clearly totally different sprites, and neither brown so it couldn't have been one of them, plus it was a solo run). :Hey, thanks for the interest and hope you enjoy helping out. I added fixes on the scrolls and Diablo page per your talk comments. Generally speaking, if you know the game material, feel free to make changes as you see fit; you don't need to ask for mod approval unless you want to redo page navigation or the like. There are a lot of little fixes like that to make to the D1 and D2 pages, since our attention has been mostly on the D3 wiki in recent years, so if you see anything else in the D2 stuff, feel free to jump on it, or at least bring it up in communication.

:The wiki forum is a good place to post questions that are much more likely to be seen than any talk page in the wiki.
