Unique Bows found in Diablo and Hellfire.

The listed damage on bows is deceptive, since the damage is simply added to the Rogue's base damage. A rogue with 300 dexterity might do 80-90 damage with a crappy bow, and 92-110 with a Windforce. More damage, but the weapon damage is not multipled by the weapon, as it is for melee fighters. A Warrior couldn't consider using a dagger in hell, while a Rogue could kill adequately with a short bow, and would actually have the same minimum damage with a short bow as with a long war bow.

For this reason, most expert rogues use a bow that grants resistance, since that doesn't cost them much damage, and it makes them more flexible in their other equipment and jewelry. This also means that low level unique bows can be used even in the late game, though the generally lacking stats of most of the Unique Bows makes that less of a viable option.

Diablo Unique Bows

The following bows can be found in Diablo and Hellfire.

The Needler

The cool crossbow graphic is just for show and just in the inventory window. The character still holds a bow in the game graphic, and this weapon works identically to the bows in the game. Bolts/arrows weren't introduced until Diablo II.

  • The Needler
  • (Crossbow)
  • Damage: 1-3
  • +50% Chance to Hit
  • Fast Attack
  • Unusual Item Damage
  • Requirements: None
  • Durability: 30
  • Qlvl: 2
  • Availability: SP and MP.

The Rift Bow

D1-w-short-bow.gif

Useful early on, but not for long.

  • (Short Bow)
  • Damage: 1-4
  • Fires Random Speed Arrows
  • -3 to Dexterity
  • +2 Damage to each Hit
  • Requirements: None

The Blackoak Bow

D1-w-long-bow.gif

Another viable low level item.

  • -10% Light Radius

  • Durability: 35
  • Qlvl: 5
  • Availability: SP and MP.

Fleshstinger

D1-w-long-bow.gif

Useful early and mid-game item.

Flame Dart

D1-w-hunters-bow.gif

Fire themed item. The elemental damage on bows is quite buggy in Diablo, and can do almost no damage, or much more than the listed, since the fire/lightning sometimes checks for hit multiple times. Though this weapon lists the fire damage twice, only one 1-6 is checked per shot.

  • Flamedart
  • (Hunters Bow)
  • Damage: 2-5
  • +1-6 Fire Damage
  • 1-6 Fire Hit Damage
  • +20% Chance to Hit
  • +40% Resist Fire
  • Requirements: 20 Strength, 35 Dexterity
  • Durability: 40
  • Qlvl: 10
  • Availability: SP and MP.

Bow of the Dead

D1-u-eaglehorn.gif

Shares an inventory graphic with Eaglehorn, but there the resemblance ends.

  • Bow of the Dead
  • (Composite Bow)
  • Damage: 3-6
  • +10% Chance to Hit
  • +4 Dexterity
  • -3 Vitality
  • -20% Light Radius
  • Altered Durability
  • Requirements: 25 strength, 40 dexterity
  • Durability: 30
  • Qlvl: 5
  • Availability: SP and MP.

The Celestial Bow

D1-w-composite-bow.gif

Another unremarkable unique bow.

  • The Celestial Bow
  • (Composite Bow)
  • Damage: 1-6
  • +2 Damage
  • Armor Class: +5
  • Requirements: No strength, 30 Dexterity
  • Durability: 35
  • Qlvl: 2
  • Availability: SP and MP.

Deadly Hunter

D1-u-eaglehorn.gif

The 200% damage to demons is negligle, since it only applies to the bow damage, not the total damage. Still, this bow does 9-18 vs. demons, making it a viable weapon in hell.

  • Deadly Hunter
  • (Composite Bow)
  • Damage: 3-6
  • -5 Magic
  • +20% to Hit
  • +200% Damage vs. demons
  • Requirements: 25 strength, 40 dexterity
  • Durability: 45
  • Qlvl: 3
  • Availability: SP and MP.

Eaglehorn

D1-u-eaglehorn.gif

The most effective of the unique bows for use against high level monsters, with a huge to/hit bonus, and the very convenient indestructible property. Less listed damage than Windforce, but much higher accuracy makes this one more damaging in the long run.

  • Eaglehorn
  • (Long Battle Bow)
  • Damage: 1-10
  • +20 Dexterity
  • +50% Chance to Hit
  • +100% Damage
  • Requirements: 30 strength, 60 dexterity
  • Durability: Indestructible.
  • Qlvl: 26
  • Availability: SP and MP.

Windforce

D1-u-windforce.gif

The biggest listed damage on any bow, and knockback. Great against melee monsters, especially knights, but less useful against mages or witches or monsters that don't attack straight on, since the knockback causes a lot of missed shots.

  • Windforce
  • (Long War Bow)
  • 1-14
  • +5 Strength
  • +200% Damage
  • Knocks Target Back
  • Requirements: 45 strength, 80 dexterity
  • Durability: 60
  • Qlvl: 17
  • Availability: SP and MP.

Hellfire Unique Bows

Three unique bows were added in Hellfire.

Blitzen

D1-u-blitzen.gif

Fires lightning bolts, rather than arrows. The damage is rather buggy.

  • Blitzen
  • (Composite Bow)
  • 10-15 Lightning damage
  • Unusual item damage
  • Requirements: 25 strenght, 40 dexterity
  • Durability: Indestructible
  • Qlvl: 13
  • Availability: SP and MP. Hellfire only.

Flabeau

D1-u-flambeau.gif

Fires fireballs, just like the spell.

  • Flambeau
  • {Composite Bow}
  • 10-25 Fireball damage
  • Requirements: 70 dexterity
  • Durability: Indestructible.
  • Qlvl: 11
  • Availability: SP and MP. Hellfire only.

Gnatsting

D1-u-gnatsting.gif

This bow is greatly overlooked, since the damage is so low. But since weapon damage on bows is just added to the melee damage, not multiplied by it, and since this one fires 3 arrows at a time, all of which can hit the same target, this is actually, by far, the most damaging bow in the game. When used/aimed properly.

  • Gnatsting
  • Hunters Bow
  • 1-2
  • Multiple arrows per shot
  • Quick attack
  • Unusual item damage
  • Requirements: 20 strength, 35 dexterity
  • Durability: Indestructible.
  • Qlvl: 15
  • Availability: SP and MP. Hellfire only.
