This guide shows in which area/difficulty level characters of every level will gain the maximum experience, in '''v1.10''' ''Diablo II: Lord of Destruction''. This is not an iron-clad strategy guide; if you can kill much more quickly in an area that earns you 88% than you can in an area worth 100%, then obviously you'll do better in the 88% area. You'll also want to factor in item find potential, ease of access, fun factor, and more. All decisions that are easier to make when you're informed about the game mechanics.

This guide shows in which area/difficulty level characters of every level will gain the maximum experience, in v1.10 Diablo II: Lord of Destruction.

Quick Guide

What level should you be to gain maximum experience in a given area? Here's the basic progression.

  • Clvl 1-11: Act One
  • Clvl 12-18: Act Two
  • Clvl 19-23: Act Three
  • Clvl 24-31: Act Four
  • Clvl 32-36: Act Five
  • Clvl 37-43: Act One, Nightmare
  • Clvl 44-48: Act Two, Nightmare
  • Clvl 49-52: Act Three, Nightmare
  • Clvl 53-62: Act Four, Nightmare
  • Clvl 63-73: Act One, Hell
  • Clvl 74-80: Act Two, Hell
  • Clvl 81-83: Act Three, Hell
  • Clvl 83-94: Act Four, Hell
  • Clvl 95-99: Act Five, Hell

Key

  • In Rows - Character Levels
  • In Columns - Difficulty Level / Act
  • In Cells - average amount of experience you get from monster killed on this level/act.
  • In the 2nd (White) Row - average base experience of monster on this level/act. For example if you're level 55 you should play on Nightmare, Act4 (not considering Average Base Experience).

To simplify the calculations, it's assumed that on each level/act there is only one monster of every kind that is possible to meet on this level.

  • Chart is derived from v1.10 figures. The values differ greatly in earlier versions of the game.
