Runes only impart their stats once they are socketed into an item. Also see Runewords.
- To upgrade runes, 2 or 3, plus a gem, are required to make 1 rune of the next higher rank. Recipes listed below.
- All Runes have the same stats when in a Helm or Armor, and only two have different when in Shields.
- Ilvl: A monster must be this level to drop the Rune.
- clvl: A character must be this level to equip an item socketed with this rune. Only the Hel (r15) Rune does not have a Clvl. Runewords almost always have a Clvl equal to that of the highest level rune in that Runeword.
- Eld: +75% Enhanced damage = 175% Damage. The game writes this both ways at times.
