From Diablo Wiki
Unique items in the Diablo II Expansion are found rarely, and have generally awesome stats, far better than the Uniques in Diablo II. These Exceptional Uniques are only found in the Diablo II Expansion, not in Diablo II.
There are no new graphics for rings or amulets in the Expansion, and as in Diablo II, no special graphics for any Unique jewelry.
- You can not gamble any Uniques in the Expansion, they must be found.
- The generation order for unique rings/amulets is now removed in D2X and D2 1.07 or higher. Click to the bottom of the page for an explanation of it in earlier versions of Diablo II.
- Rarity is expressed as items per 1000 items of that type. E.g. SoJ is listed at 18.9/1000. This means that out of 1000 unique rings dropped that were high enough level to be the SoJ, 18.9 would be, on average. Expansion odds are listed.
- Item Level: Monsters must be of this level to drop a given Unique item. A list of monsters and their Mlvls can be found at Darkness.
- Clvl Req: A character must be this level to equip the item.

- The Contricting Ring is not and never has been droppable. We have it listed on our Unique Rings page, and the ring's full stats are listed in the game files, but it has a 0, instead of a 1, in the "completed" column in uniqueitems.txt, the actual game file that sets the properties on Unique items, which makes it undroppable. Anyone who knows anything about MPQ extracting or mod-making can verify this in 30 seconds, and enable it to drop in their Off-realm games while they are at it.
If the item were enabled, the only monsters in the game that could possibly drop the ring are Baal and Nihlathak, since the ring has an ilvl 95, and monsters must be as equal or higher to the ilvl of a unique to drop it. Baal is mlvl 95, Nihlathak is mlvl 98. It might also be possible to find it from chests late in Hell, since though they are capped at ilvl 75 in the game code, people have found items much higher than that from them, including some charms with modifiers that no monster can drop.
