[[Emerald]]s stack oddlyare most popular when used as sockets in weapons, adding much more damage than you would expectespecially for low level characters. When multiple emeralds are [[socket]]ed, the duration adds, and the Their poison damage is squared: 2 = 4x damage over 2 secondsnot very high, 3 = 9x but it stops monster healing. Poison damage over 3 secondsstacks oddly in Diablo II, etcand has been tweaked many times in patches. Adding other types In earlier versions of [[the game, poison]] damage from [[jewel]]s in [[armor]]/[[helm]]s/[[shield]]s, poison [[charms]], [[unique armor]], etc can create considerablemultiplied while duration added, potentially granting very high damage over very long-lasting damagetimes. The effect is less pronounced in v1.11+
