It is well-suited to Necromancers; the Thorns aura will affect summoned monsters, the Necromancer has more poison skills than other classes, and it has mana regeneration and mana pool bonuses to boot. The life boost on kill only triggers on the Necromancer's kills, however, not his minions'.
