Whether the next game in the series will be ''Diablo III, '' or ''Diablo Online'', or the sequel to Diablo II, remains a mystery. Blizzard has never made any official comment on the game, other than frequently giving vague statements about how theyit're "interested in continuing all s clear from numerous hints and bits of our popular information that such a game worlds in future titlesis being worked on by a full design team at Blizzard." Despite their lack of No official confirmationsword has yet been released, enough disparate bits of information have been assembled to (all but) prove it's widely accepted that another a third game in the Diablo series has been was well underway at Blizzard North by 2003, when massive employee turnover and (rumored) quality problems with the title created major delays. A new team took over the project after Blizzard North was closed in 2005, and work continues at Blizzard Irvine.
