Izual is an [ [Animals|Animal]] and a fallen angel, imprisoned or corrupted into a demon. There's some nice fiction about him in the game quest info, and the Diablo II manualSuperUnique.
Izual is a hard monster to killfound randomly placed somewhere in the Plains of Despair, but not an especially dangerous onethe second surface area in Act Four. He doesn't hit very quickly or deal high damage, but Izual is a quest boss; he has a ton of hit points, and often takes new characters longer must be killed to kill than any other single monster on all of normal difficulty. Prior to v1.07 and complete the expansion, he was outrageously durableFallen Angel quest, and melee attackers often had to return to town since the reward for weapon repairs mid-battledoing so is two skill points from Tyrael, this is a quest that no character passes up.
Tactics arenIzual AKA Izzy, isn't exactly of paramount importance against Izual. You simply have to dangerous, but he can be quite tedious, with more hit him a lot lot lotpoint than any sub-Act Boss monster, and herelatively high resistances to go with it. He'll dies even got cold attacks with a very long chill duration, eventuallyto further slow the killing speed of most characters. His death takes out any activated monster When Izual dies (just like Shenk the Overseer in Act Five) all the other monsters within 30 a screen or 40 yardstwo die as well, so it's possible can be worth it to lead a nearly dead whittle Izual into down to a thick mobsliver, then lead him to a crowded area (or lead crowds to him) before delivering the coupe de grace and killing dozens of monsters at once. There's no experience bonus from this sort of crowd kill them all instantly by taking him out, and the drops from the slain monsters do not check to you character's gold/magic find, so it's just a fun little trick, rather than a source of any real profit.
Izual hits with cold damage and has a Frost Nova spellfigures prominently in the game fiction. These aren't damaging enough He was an battle angle, like Tyrael, who led an assault on the Hellforge to be dangerousattempt to stop the forging of a the great demon sword, but they will slow attackersShadowfang. He failed, making was captured by the battle take even longer. Can not be frozen gear is helpfuldemons, as is closing and tortured and tormented until he switched allegiances and joined the forces of evil (unbeknownst to melee rangethem, since a fact Izual uses fewer Frost Novas thenreveals in the dialogue following his defeat).
