2005: Blizzard Centralizes Operations
Blizzard does not believe that these changes will cause significant delays on any of its projects in development. The company released its subscription-based massively multi-player online role-playing game, World of Warcraft, at the end of 2004 and is continuing work on StarCraft: Ghost, its upcoming tactical-action console game set in the award-winning StarCraft universe. Plans for future products will be revealed at a later date.

Optimism about faster progress aside, ''Warcraft III ''wasn't a great success, ''Starcraft Ghost ''was delayed, reworked, then put on indefinite hold, there's still no word about the project(s) that were underway at Blizzard North since 2001, and ''Starcraft II ''wasn't announced until late 2007. With that record, it's safe to say that if ''World of Warcraft ''hadn't become the most profitable video game in history, things would be pretty bleak around the Irvine offices.
