The Assassin character was introduced in Diablo II: Lord of Destruction. She is not found in the original Diablo II game. With the Assassinthis character, Blizzard North are aiming at aimed to create a mix of the Sorceress's projectile attacks character that could be used with the Barbarian's fast hitting melee attacks, the Traps allowing her to be more tactical when dealing with larger groups of monsters at once where the Barbarian can't. A fighter-mage combinationdeal strong elemental damage, though she lacks the massive destructive powers of a Barbarian with Whirlwind her Martial Arts tree allows her and use magical spells to be hit from a formidable hand to hand fighterdistance.
