Monastery Gate is the first of several levels and types of levels that takes place in the Rogue Monastery, the gate to the East and Lut Gholein in Act II.

The Monastery Gate is the first of several connected levels that represents the last quarter of Act I. It's an extremely short level which is just the passageway between the Tamoe Highland and the Outer Cloister. It would take ten seconds at most to run through.
