Greater Mummy:
is a Monster
and an Undead
and a Guest Monster

Greater Mummies are Undead.

One of the more fearsome monsters in the game, Greater Mummies are most known for their magical abilities. They can resurrect any undead monster in range, with the exception of other Greater Mummies (only boss Greater Mummies can do this), and boss or champion undead. Fighting against skeletons, zombies, specters, or any other undead monster can feel like running on a treadmill when there are Greater Mummies about, as the fallen enemies rise up again as quickly as you can slay them.

Besides their resurrections, Greater Mummies fire Unholy Bolts, which do magical damage; a type of damage very few items offer resistance against. They also have a poisonous breath attack, and a chance to add substantial poison damage to their melee attacks, which are delivered with a massive reaper claw.

There are two types of Unraveler. The usual one appears in Tal Rasha's tombs in act 2, and returns as a Guest Monster in the Pit of Acheron. A second type of monster also called Unraveler appears only when summoned by Baal in the Throne of Destruction, as part of the Achmel the Cursed boss pack. This second type is listed as "Unraveler Baal" in the tables below.

  • All values are listed by difficulty level: Normal / Nightmare / Hell.

Statistics[edit]

  • The TC/Rune drops listed are the highest Treasure Class/Rune Group a normal monster of that type can drop.
    • TC Champions and Bosses can sometimes drop from the next higher group.
    • The max TC/Rune possible may depend on which level a monster spawns in, and can be lower than the maximum. See the item calculators to ascertain precisely what a monster from a given area can drop.

Offense[edit]

Greater Mummies have a projectile Unholy Bolts (magical damage), poison breath, and a % chance to add poison damage to their melee claw attack.

Note that the Unraveler Baal does more poison damage on normal than it does on NM/Hell. This is assumed to be an error in the game code. Also note that they do not fire Unholy Bolts, presumably since this would make them too dangerous in the small area of Baal's Throneroom.

Defenses[edit]

Greater Mummies regenerate their hit points 50% faster than most monsters.

  • Regen Rate tells what % of a monster's hit points are recovered per second. Standard is 1.2/sec.
  • Blocking tells what % of successful, blockable attacks will not damage the monster. Monsters need not carry a shield to block.
  • Drain Effectiveness tells what % of a character's mana and life steal apply to that monster. 100 is all, 0 is none.
  • Chill Effectiveness tells what % of a character's cold length applies to the monster. 100 is all, 0 is no freeze/chill at all.

Resistances[edit]

  • Resistances over 99% are listed as immunities and monsters will take no damage from that type of attack.
  • Immunities can be "broken" by skills that lower resistance, if the value drops below 99%. See the Resistances page for more details.
