Tentacle Beast:
is a Monster
and an Animal

Tentacle Beasts are Animals.

Tentacle Beasts are a species of aquatic reptile that inhabit the waterways of the Kehjistan jungle. Travelers should be extremely wary of these creatures, especially when near pools of water, streams, or rivers. Bubbles rippling across the surface of a body of water are a telltale sign that a Tentacle Beast waits below. Fearsome to look upon, these reptiles are also extremely dangerous. They secret a poisonous saliva, which they spit from their mouths with incredible force, often knocking targets off their feet. Occasionally, groups of Tentacle Beasts work together, with one using the poisonous missiles to knock prey into the maw of another.

Found in the rivers and moats of Act Three, Tentacle beasts are snake like monsters with a head that bites and spits, and tails that deal melee damage when attackers approach too closely. The tails can be killed without slowing the head, but if the head is taken out the tails will vanish beneath the surface, never to return.

These monsters never drop any items, but they can be leeched from and are worth experience points.

Statistics[edit]

Tentacle Beasts are stationary and have no movement speed. They do not drop items of any kind and are never found in champion or boss forms.

Offense[edit]

The poison spit attack is a magical projectile and therefore always hits (barring blocking or avoid type skills). The damage is the same on all difficulty levels, which is surely a bug/oversight by the programmers.

Defenses[edit]

  • Regen Rate tells what % of a monster's hit points are recovered per second. Standard is 1.2/sec. Some monsters regen 50% or 100% faster.
  • Drain Effectiveness tells what % of a character's mana and life steal apply to that monster. 100 is all, 0 is none.
  • Chill Effectiveness tells what % of a character's cold length applies to the monster. 100 is all, 0 is no freeze/chill at all.

Resistances[edit]

The heads and tails have identical resistances for each type of Tentacle Beast.

  • Resistances over 99% are listed as immunities and monsters will take no damage from that type of attack.
  • Immunities can be "broken" by skills that lower resistance, if the value drops below 99%. See the Resistances page for more details.
