Bartuc the Bloody is a Demon and a Council Member.
Bartuc is found in the Throne of Destruction. Baal summons Bartuc as his third special boss pack, and Bartuc and all of his minions must be killed or removed from the area before Baal will summon the next pack (Bartuc's minions are the 4th type of Council Member if looking for stats).
All values are listed by difficulty level: Normal / Nightmare / Hell.
Statistics[edit]
- The TC/Rune drops listed are the highest Treasure Class/Rune Group a normal monster of that type can drop.
- Champions and Bosses can sometimes drop from the next higher TC.
- The max TC/Rune possible depends on which level a monster spawns in, and can vary slightly from the listed values (monsters that spawn in later levels can drop higher level items). See the item calculators to ascertain precisely what a monster from a given area can drop.
Name | Level | Experience | Hit Points | Speed | Max TC/Rune |

- Bartuc is always Lightning Enchanted, and he gains 1 random modifier on Nightmare and 2 on Hell.
- Bartuc has a melee attack with physical damage, and a melee attack with lightning damage. The same AR applies to both.
Name | Melee Attack | Lightning Attack | Attack Rating #1 |
---|---|---|---|
Bartuc the Bloody | 14-32 / 39-85 / 70-150 | 17-27 / 37-57 / 66-100 | 420 / 1798 / 4754 |
Special Attacks[edit]
- Council Members all have a pink lightning melee attack (Blizzshock), and can cast Hydras.
Name | Blizzshock | Hydra | Increased Fire Dmg | # of Minions |
---|---|---|---|---|
Bartuc the Bloody | 8-30 / 44-72 / 92-128 | 8-11 / 20-26 / 46-57 | -- / +60% / +120% |
|
Defenses[edit]
Like many other SuperUniques, Bartuc the Bloody does not regenerate hit points.
- Regen Rate tells what % of a monster's hit points are recovered per second. Standard is 1.2/sec.
- Blocking tells what % of successful, blockable attacks will not damage the monster. Monsters need not carry a shield to block.
- Drain Effectiveness tells what % of a character's mana and life steal apply to that monster. 100 is all, 0 is none.
- Chill Effectiveness tells what % of a character's cold length applies to the monster. 100 is all, 0 is no freeze/chill at all.
Name | Defense | Blocking | Regen Rate | Drain Effectiveness | Chill Effectiveness |

Resistances[edit]
- Resistances over 99% are listed as immunities and monsters will take no damage from that type of attack.
- Immunities can be "broken" by skills that lower resistance, if the value drops below 99%. See the Resistances page for more details.

Lore[edit]
There is no connection between this monster and the Bartuc of Diablo lore, but his story is an interesting one:
- While the Vizjerei sorcerers had a long history of practicing the elemental magics, they are most notable for the two renegade magi, the brothers Horazon and Bartuc, who experimented with demonic magic that tore the Vizjerei apart. Bartuc, later known as the Warlord of Blood, sought to ally himself with the forces of Evil while Horazon enslaved demons to his will. In the end Horazon realized they were both being duped by Evil and gathered his forces to kill Bartuc. The Vizjerei worked with the Priests of Rathma to ensure that Bartuc would not be able to rise again. Bartuc's head and body were separated and sealed into two different caves. Following this was the establishment of the Viz-Jaqtaar—also known as the Order of the Mage Slayers, or Assassins—who were to act against any magi who might achieve a similar depth of corruption.
- The Warlord of Blood later appears in a self-titled quest below Tristam, while Bartuc later appears in the form of a Council Member as a minion of Baal at the end of Act V, so it is unsure whether either of these are the same as the original Bartuc.
- During the time of Diablo's resurgence, Horazon was still thought to have been alive, though it was found to be a mere pretender—a Vizjerei sorcerer who had returned from Tristram and had been corrupted by the Arcane Sanctuary. Adventurers fought their way through the Arcance Sanctuary to discover the whereabouts of Tal Rasha's tomb. Instead of being greeted by Horazon himself, however, they discovered a dark impersonator. One of the Vizjerei sorcerers that attempted to save Tristram (the playable Sorcerer character from Diablo I) was corrupted and took on the mantle of The Summoner, but he was slain by the adventurers. Cain suggested that impersonator was pulled down to Hell by the forces of Evil after his death. Others suggest that it was Horazon's spirit that possessed the sorcerer. Horazon's final fate remains unknown.
